Comprehensive Bridge Development Program includes structured finance arranged by Acrow and extensive local skills development
Building on a long history of partnering with African nations on the development of critical national infrastructure, Acrow partnered with the Road Development Agency (RDA) of the Republic of Zambia on an ambitious, large-scale bridge development program. This project included the supply of Acrow bridges, extensive local training, as well as the arrangement of financing to support the successful implementation of the program.
Specifically, as part of the project scope Acrow supplied 131 bridges, comprising single- and multi-span structures of one- and two-lane widths, and ranging from 12.19 meters (40′) to more than 100 meters (340′) in length. The structures are being installed throughout the country by local Zambian engineers, technicians and contractors, trained in the field on assembly, installation and maintenance, thus demonstrating Acrow’s commitment to extensive local skills development.
As a key feature of its Bridge Development Program model, Acrow also arranges the financing required for project delivery and implementation. In Zambia, Acrow partnered with major international financial institutions to facilitate the financing, supported with export credit guarantees issued by the Export-Import Bank of the United States. Throughout project development and implementation, Acrow coordinated with a range of stakeholders to ensure that the technical and financing needs of the project were appropriately managed.
Acrow is proud to have partnered with the RDA on this transformative project in Zambia, and remains committed to leaving a legacy of sustainable bridge infrastructure across Africa and beyond.
